If you dream of guiding adventurers through the stunning mountains of Ladakh, there are some important things you need to know. Recently, the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association made some rules about who can become a certified guide. Here’s the lowdown:
For Mountain Guides :
- Get Certified: First off, you need to complete an Advanced Mountaineering Course from a recognized place in India. Or, you can aim for an Intermediate Mountaineering Course of Component-II from NNMGA, if you want to be internationally recognized.
- Climb High: You’ve got to have some serious climbing experience. That means you should have conquered peaks over 6000m at least five times. This shows you know your stuff when it comes to high-altitude adventures.
- Experience Counts: Before you can guide others, you need to have spent at least five years learning the ropes. This could be through climbing, assisting other guides or similar experience.
- First Aids Course Certification valid for 2 Years
These rules apply to everyone, whether you’re from Ladakhi or not. The goal is to make sure all guides are super skilled and can keep adventurers safe in the mountains.
Note : for Local and Non-Local Guide, The Person should get a recommendation letter from local tour operator in Ladakh ( Who is an recognized member of ALTOA ) , Min 3 Years of Experience need to get a seasonal ID Card.
By having these standards, the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association hopes to make mountain adventures in Ladakh even better. So, if you’re up for the challenge, start training, start climbing and get ready to lead others on amazing mountain journeys in Ladakh!
