We are pleased to announce that applications for membership in the Ladakh Mountain Guide Association (LMGA) are now open. LMGA invites applications from individuals interested in becoming a part of our esteemed community as Mountain Guides, Trekking Guides, and Seasonal Mountain Guide and Trekking Guides.
Membership Eligibility:
- Mountain Guide:
- Must have Advance Mountaineering certifications from recognized institutes.
- Experience in guiding and mountaineering expeditions, The Person Should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in Mountain Guiding.
- Familiarity with the terrain and local conditions of Ladakh.
- Must obtain a recommendation letter from a Local Tour Operator in Ladakh endorsed by the All Ladakh Tour Operator Association (ALTOA) with a stamp. The recommendation letter should not be older than 2 weeks.
- International applicants must provide certification from a recognized institute.
- Trekking Guide:
- Must obtain a recommendation letter from a Local Tour Operator in Ladakh, endorsed by the Ladakh Tour Operator Association (ALTOA), with a stamp. The recommendation letter should not be older than 2 weeks.
- Should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in trekking and hiking in Ladakh.
- Must have at-least one certification course i.e Basic Mountaineering Course, Trek Leader Certification Course and Adventure Course.
- International applicants must provide certification from a recognized institute.
Procedure to Obtain Membership:
Online Application

- Fill out the online membership application form.
- Upload scanned copies of required documents (Signature and Photo).
Offline Application:
- Obtain the membership application form from the LMGA office in Leh, Ladakh.
- Fill out the form completely and accurately.
- Attach all necessary documents (certificates, recommendation letter, etc.).
- Submit the completed form along with the application fee to the LMGA office.
Important Notes:
- Ensure that all documents submitted are valid and up-to-date.
- Applications will be reviewed by the LMGA Membership Committee.
- Membership approval is subject to meeting all eligibility criteria and approval by the committee.
