For both mountain and trekking guides, renewing your LMGA membership means:

Guide Categories & Renewal Fees

LMGA has separate renewal fee structures based on guide level and residency status (local or non-local). Here is a breakdown:

1. Certified Trekking Guide

  • Local (Ladakh Resident): ₹1,000 per year
  • Non-Local: ₹2,000 per year
  • Includes:
    • LMGA ID card and badge renewal
    • Access to LMGA group updates and networking events
    • Participation in refresher training programs

2. Certified Mountain Guide (Basic/Advanced)

  • Local (Ladakh Resident): ₹1,000 per year
  • Non-Local: ₹2,000 per year
  • Includes:
    • Guide badge and ID renewal
    • Name listed in official LMGA guide directory
    • Invitations to alpine rescue drills and technical training sessions

Note: Proof of residency (Ladakh domicile or government-issued local ID) is mandatory for claiming local rates.

 Renewal Timeline

  • Renewal Window: 30 June (each calendar year)
  • Renew early to avoid last-minute processing delays.

Important Notice – Mandatory First Aid Certification

All Trekking and Mountain Guides are required to update their valid First Aid Certification every two years.

  • If your First Aid Certificate has expired or you fail to submit a valid certificate during this renewal, your LMGA membership will be dismissed without refund.

  • This rule applies strictly to both Trekking and Mountain Guides.

Make sure your certificate is valid for at least two years from the date of renewal.

 Important Reminder

  • Only guides with a valid and renewed LMGA ID are authorized to operate on registered trekking routes and climbing expeditions in Ladakh.
  • Tour operators and travel companies are strongly advised to verify guide credentials before hiring.
